Parc des Ecrins
Hotel Au bon Accueil is situated in a very beautiful area, opposite one of France largest natural parcs, the Parc des Ecrins.
You can walk endlessly in this parc, even for a few days by sleeping in gites de France at night.
The most frequented hike is the 1 ½ hours walk up to Lake Lauvitel; a lovely setting in a bowl between 2 mountaintops.
Flora and fauna is of course very well represented here. With a bit of luck you can feed the big marmottes.
On the other side of the hotel runs the Veneon, a little mountain river that gives our valley it's name. The meltwater runs through it and can offer interesting kayak and rafting possibilities.
Temperatures
In summer the temperatures are very nice. In daytime it may be very hot, although it will be cooler higher in the mountains, but at night it's pleasantly cool. The nights can be so clear you'll be amazed by the amount of stars you see!
In winter, temperatures can be very changeable. We do have snow surrounding the hotel, but luckily the road is kept well clear.
