Skiing and snowboarding in ski resort Les 2 Alpes
The hotel is situated close to Les 2 Alpes, with over 200 km ski pistes, a modern lift system, lots of good snow and sunshine ( over 300 days a year). Even summerski is possible in 2 Alpes. All these features are much appreciated by ski lovers from all over the world!
Les 2 Alpes is famous with snowboarders. The world championship takes place almost every year at Les 2 Alpes. There is a snowboardpark at 2600 m ; 10 hectares especially for boarders, with an Axe pipe of 600 m and a half pipe of 110 m, regular demonstrations and music. Finally you can visit an unique icecave at 3400 m.
Les 2 Alpes is a more or less 'flat' glacier; so even the beginners can ski at altitude and enjoy the best snow. Due to a very good transport system, consisting of an underground train at 2600 m, and about 56 different type of lifts, the different areas are easily reached.
Every year they build new skilifts to discover more areas of snow!
Other skiareas
Les 2 Alpes is connected to La Grave/ La meije; one of the main offpiste areas in the world, with more than 2 km of verticle altitude difference of unpreparated pistes! Other ski areas you can go to on your Les 2 Alpes week skipass include; one day in Alpe d'Huez and one day in Serre Chevalier.
There are also possibilities for ski safaries.
Practical issues
If you want, the team of Au Bon Accueil will be very pleased to assist you wherever they can. Among all kind of other things, they can arrange your skiing-lessons and practical issues like skipasses, ski-equipment etc. The equipment rental shop is called Milou Sports and is located just opposite the ski-lift, so that a comfortable start of your skiing day is guarenteed. You can leave your skis and boots in that ski-shop at night time; they're safe and warm. It's a lot easier than carrying them everyday.
Fun for non skiers
For guests who don't ski there are a few things to do as well. You can go up all the way to the glacier and enjoy the most beautiful view of mountains (on a clear day you can even see the Mont Blanc).
Or you can watch the skiers go by, sitting on a lovely mountain terrace. Up on the glacier you can book a ride with the snowcat; it takes you to places you will not get on skies or by walking! It's really a beautiful ride! Or you can visit the icecave at 3400 m with all kinds of statues made of ice!
For cross country skiing Les 2 Alpes is not ideal. There are only a few slopes and some of them are not high enough to have snow all season long.
